Recipes for the Road

The Florida Department of Transportation District Two’s Community Traffic Safety Program is excited to present our 28th Annual Recipes for the Road. For over a quarter of a century, we have worked to make a positive impact and help keep people safe on our roads during the holidays. This program focuses on education and outreach strategies to create safer communities. It is designed to work with local partners, including law enforcement, team members, restaurants, and bars, to promote responsible alcohol service and personal use at events and when hosting parties. The campaign supports safe transportation choices that encourage alternatives to driving while impaired.

This year, we have a 12-page Recipes for the Road book available as a digital flipbook, a printable PDF download, and a limited quantity printed edition.

Celebrate Safely and Recipes for the Road

Recipes for the Road booklets and Celebrate Safely posters are available for District Two team members to distribute throughout our 18 Northeast Florida counties. Click here to place your order- while supplies last.

We thank our Traffic Safety Team members, partners, and volunteers who continue to promote traffic safety. They share our passion and goal of reducing alcohol-related traffic crashes and fatalities on our roadways. These people and organizations have been instrumental in the success of our Celebrate Safely, Designate a Driver program and the Recipes for the Road booklet!

Be Responsible – Do Not Drink and Drive

Thanksgiving through the New Year is a fun and festive time of year. There are many celebrations, family gatherings, festivals, football pre-game tailgating, and holiday parties throughout this fall and winter. They are all best enjoyed when we celebrate responsibly. Please always drive safely and sober.

Traffic Safety Bookmarks

27 Years of Bookmarks and Collaborating with Local Libraries!

The Northeast Florida Community Traffic Safety Program started developing relationships with local libraries and schools in 1999. We shared traffic safety tips for kids primarily on bookmarks, which led to activity books, tip cards, and even schoolbook cover wraps. In 2017, we targeted messages toward drivers and children on our bookmarks. In 2021, we created activity cards for libraries with bike, walk, ride, and drive safe education and puzzles like crosswords, mazes, word searches, and coloring activities.

Check out all of our past and present bookmarks we’ve produced through the years. You can also download and print them to share as tip cards or flyers that spread the message about traffic safety and help create a culture of safe behaviors on the road!

The messages encourage positive driving behaviors to tackle aggressive speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, and buckling up. We have an updated traffic safety bookmark with cute animals targeted at young children. Another bookmark focuses on occupant protection for all passengers and child passenger safety. Finally, we created one for preteens and young adults with pedestrian and bicycle safety reminders.
